Text Neck

‘Text Neck’ has been around for quite some time, but it seems to have risen as a top story lately.  What is Text-Neck?  It’s pain or discomfort in your neck caused by the downward-looking gaze technique most people use to interact with a smartphone or tablet.  This action places additional stress on your cervical spine which can lead to early degeneration or tearing that could result in surgery.  Of course there are ways to prevent this:

  1. Stop using your phone/table (not likely to happen)
  2. Hold your phone at eye-level so that you’re not staring down at the screen (awkward at first)
  3. Take a break and look up every once in a while, there’s a whole world of tactile activity out there – stretch those limbs
  4. If you have an Android phone, download the Text Neck app from the Google Play store, it prompts you when you’re not holding the phone correctly
  5. Hope the Head Flat Kickstarter project is resurrected

What the heck is Head Flat?  Glad you asked:
