What does music mean to you? For me, it is something special. From the moment it resonates in my eardrums, I am transported to my most distant memory. A feeling that transcends anything you’ve experienced before. Tease me if you must but a few Fridays back I listened to my collection of The OC soundtracks at work and instantly I was back in college rediscovering indie music for the first time again. Or when we listen to Nat King Cole during dinner and “I Love You For Sentimental Reasons” comes on and just like that, my brain channels the evening my wife and I got married. Music is a powerful medium.
While on the subject, I have to mention that today is Record Store Day. If you’re an enthusiast such as myself, you already knew that and likely have been waiting in line at your favorite, local, independent record shop since 5:00am. I didn’t get in line for any of the limited releases this year, but better yet, my wife and I are walking to Val’s Halla Records this morning, to introduce our son to this awesome, annual event. We strongly encourage you get out there and do the same.
Here’s to supporting the little guy/gal! Happy RSD!
