German confectioner Haribo, is building a $242 million, 500,000-square-foot candy-making facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. The move is expected to create at least 400 new jobs. That’s just fantastic news and hints of Making America Great Again one sweet job at a time. You can read more on this at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The real story should be why the facility isn’t being built in Illinois. Interestingly, Haribo’s North American headquarters are based in Rosemont. So, like, WTF? We have people leaving the state by the thousands, we have the second-highest property tax in the country, $12.8 BILLION in unpaid bills, no signs of Springfield passing a budget anytime soon, and to top it all off, we have to pay a 7-cent tax for a plastic bag!? It’s no wonder businesses (and residents) are skipping the state. Thanks again Springfield.
