Pick Your Adventure

Yeah yeah it’s been awhile since a post has been published. What a great way to come back into action….. with a blurb about a rad burger bar in little ol Yorkville! The drive is a simple ride along a long riding road (Route 126) if you’re coming from the southwest burbs. A great country ride if you’re a city slicker looking for a break from the city traffic grind.

I say this will be a blurb because this place is a pick your adventure, and there’s a lot of things to try from the burgers, fries, apps, beers, cocktails, and ADULT SHAKES! Their ingredients are all from local sources too. My adventure….err Crusade I picked today was the ‘Purification By Fire’ Burger. I paired that up with a HammerHeart ‘Fimbulvetr’ Imperial IPA. Great smokiness to this IPA from Minnesota! The GM Chad picked out Werk Force ‘Apricrot Vultures’ for my second brew with my meal which is a saison / farmhouse ale.  I had this a bunch of times at Werk Force, but never had it with beef. Great pairing as the apricot springs into action on each sip. Burger was cooked perfect for me (medium) and was juicy. By the way, on the burger was bleu cheese, celery salad, bacon, and blis vinaigrette.

Food and drink are on point. Many choices and varieties to choose from. The decor inside is also cool and feels old school meets new school. (Yes, I don’t have great angle shots from inside that show it off….guess you gotta go there and see for yourself). It is just like Sovereign in Plainfield (Crusade is the sister location of Sovereign). I didn’t feel cramped inside like other burger places. Service is great, I arrived a little after they opened, but it was getting kinda packed for the lunch time hour and the staff were eager to fire up some grub and serve drinks! Chad and his team are friendly and are easy to strike up a conversation about the beers, food, or the psychobilly tunes being played inside.

Why trek to the city and spend time and money on parking and waiting in lines for hours to get a burger and brew. Head out west and let Crusade Burger Bar give your senses an adventure! *puts on viking helmet*

Yep, that was me. Now I just have to go there at night to see how cool it is with the lights down low. I like places that have energy and deliver great food.

  2. I went there for their first time last night and your meal was an exact replica of mine. Loved it
