Blackout Stout

Great Lakes Imperial Stout

If you’ve been keeping up with Page of Man’s Suds & Buds section, you know we’re big fans (especially the seasonal four packs) of Great Lakes Brewing Company.  Today’s feature is easily my favorite non-barrel aged stout, period.  Blackout Stout has a rich, bold, chocolate malty goodness body with just enough hop bitterness to balance out the sweetness.  At 9% ABV, this craft brew is meant for sipping and enjoying the depth of flavors as your glass warms closer to room temperature.  But it won’t be in stores for much longer, so do yourself a favor and add it to your list for this weekend (even though it may not feel as timely as we revel in the unseasonably balmy temperatures on the horizon).  I leave you with the quote on the bottle:

“Shine a light on our label artwork to find ’03, a nod to the year our region was kicked off the grid and taught an important lesson: when life hands you a blackout, hang out with your neighbors and help finish each other’s rapidly-warming beer.”
