With Saint Patrick’s Day this Thursday, it seems like perfect timing that one of the best drinking bands to come out of Ireland is giving us a reason to put aside the Jameson and Bushmills and try something different. The Pogues, led by the lengendary (and often smashed) frontman Shane MacGowan is releasing their own Irish Whiskey.
Distilled by West Cork Distillers the Pogues Irish Whiskey is a blend of a 10-year single-malt Irish whiskey aged in sherry casks and a 7-year old Irish grain whiskey aged in bourbon oak casks. The result is a sweeter take on Irish whiskey with a nutty/malty aroma.
At $40 it’s not the cheapest of the lot, but if you’re looking for something unique to sip on for Saint Patricks Day (or anytime really) it’s worth looking into.
