Tell Your Dad You Love Him

What does Father’s Day mean to you?  This year it was hosting my family Friday, my wife’s family Saturday and breakfast at Mission House Café with my wife & son followed by BBQ’ing with my extended family at my aunt and uncle’s home on Sunday.  It was a busy, nonstop and tiring three days, but it was spent with some of the people I love most and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. That was my weekend at a glance but let’s down to the business of being a dad.

My Pops has been a father figure in many ways.  Let’s start off by saying he’s ALWAYS there when you need him despite his difficult and ever changing restaurant life work schedule.  Need a baseball coach for your entire youth?  Need someone to take you and your siblings down to the park at 10:00pm on a school night to chase your dog and look at the stars while laying in the snow?  Need the coolest Jeep Wrangler to drive in high school?  Need someone to move you in and out of college?  Need a companion to shop for your girlfriend’s engagement ring?  Need a fishing partner for life? Need a completely rebuilt back porch at your new home?  Need the most perfect bar in America, hand built in your garage?  Need a conversation to or from work, every day?  Need some positive reinforcement?  Need guidance?  These are just a few of the things my Dad has provided over the past 35 years.  I only hope to be as good of a Poppa to my 3.5 year old son.

Pictured above you see the aforementioned rebuilt back porch, my Pops’ favorite “regular beer” and his Dad’s favorite beer glass.  I’ve posted previously about my love and respect for my Grandpa.  He was a good man.  Today I want encourage everyone to verbally tell their respective dad’s that they love them.  Thank them for shaping our lives.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend.
