As I poured this into my stout glass (cut me some slack, I haven’t seen a porter specific glass…yet), I was eager to stick my nose in for an aroma observation. Imagine a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup but without the artificial ingredients. This particular treat comes to us from the hometown (Athens, Georgia) of indie rockers, R.E.M. Terrapin Beer Company’s Liquid Bliss isn’t far off from the name. It is medium bodied and possesses zero hop aroma, which is fine as the chocolate peanut butter was the focus, therefore late hop additions were likely nixed from the boil. As with most darker beers, the finish mellowed and sweetened as I let it sit and warm up. Most times I prefer these closer to room temperature but this particular candidate drinks better, right out of the fridge. Sessionable enough at 6.1% and 30 IBUs, but I would only suggest one (or two) of these as a dessert substitute.
